講義内容

　This course is intended for those who have reached an intermediate level in English and who would like to expand their vocabulary and improve their speaking ability. The course will focus on a number of short news articles taken from the Japan Times and the Yomiuri Shinbun and will cover a variety of up-to-date topics of interest to students. New vocabulary and expressions will be explained and the content will serve as a basis for general discussion and exchange of ideas. The focus will also be on the various cultural differences that exist between Japan and other countries of the world.

　Overall, this will be an informal and relaxed class where students will be encouraged to express their personal views in English. There will be no pressure to speak, however, and students may at times remain silent and practise their listening if they so wish.

　The course will be conducted in English and study materials will be provided by the teacher.

ジャパンタイムスや読売新聞などから、最近の興味あるニュース記事を取り上げます。

新しい語彙と表現で説明されており、内容はディスカッションや意見交換に役立ちます。また、日本と世界のほかの国々の様々な文化的相違に焦点を当てます。

　全体的には、くつろいだ雰囲気で自分の視点を英語で表現してもらえるような講座です。 しゃべらなくては、というプレッシャーはありません。もし希望するのなら、リスニングに徹していても大丈夫です。
